台灣的投資環境，也嗅到了在稅制上已無法與東亞周邊國家競爭的問題，目前我國的營所稅率是約25%，與新加坡、香港相較高出許多，只與韓國相當，但韓國已朝降稅的目標前進，營所稅減稅是勢所難免，這也顯示馬蕭確找到台灣的經濟競爭力的問題所在。
